Hey Marvin,

Bob Stopka from Panama City here. I have the 61 wm300 fire truck and we met in Samson at Lamars. From what I know, unless you know someone in the Florida Title office, you have to work around the problem. Here is how it is done in the Panhandle. There are no titles required in Alabama prior to 1967. You have to sell the vehicle
on paper to someone you know with an Alabama
address. Lamar for instance. They take the bill of sale to Alabama mv registration office and apply for what is called a tag receipt. When they get that paper from the state of alabama ( no vehicle inspection is needed and I think it is all done on the spot, so to speak ). So, when they get the alabama tag receipt ( they are no actually getting a alabama license plate, just the paper receipt. ) At that point, on paper, as far as alabama is concerned, the alabama
person owns the vehicle. But the person you sold it to in alabama then writes you a bill of sale and sells it back to you, supplying you with the bill of sale and the alabama tag receipt. You take this to the florida vehicle registration office, and then apply for a florida title. Of course
keep the sale price low so you don't get hit with that large florida tax that occurs when you bring a vehicle in from out of state. Also, it would be smart for the original seller from florida to alabama not be you on paper, so it doesn't look like YOU
are pulling it from florida and then back into florida for yourself. You may have to pay a buddy of yours in alabama like 50 $ to entice him to do this. One last thing...
In florida, the mv registration computer database in all the tax collectors offices
that links them to the state database in Tallahassee is referred to as FRVIS. There
is the new frvis and old frvis databases.
I have a WC12 in the same predicamint. They
can't even punch in the WC12 7 numerical digit vin in the new FRVIS. It doesn't recognize the format. In the old FRVIS, the vin did not show up. I did this to try to determine if the WC12 was ever registered in
florida, and they could not find a record for it, so as far as florida knows, at this point the wc12 doesn't exist. You'll probably run into the same situation, but I would give the florida office the vin just to make sure they can't find it, before you go through all the trouble. I have a buddy of mine in florida who has successfully used the above technique multiple times to get florida titles for old untitled vehicles he was streetrodding. One other idea. There is a company in Birmingham, Al
that advertises the above service I described, and they say they can get a title for any state. I dod not have their number, but it is an 800 number. The name of the company is Broadway Title. I heard they charge $ 150.00 per title. Not sure if that's true. I have seen them advertise in the back of MVPA Supply Line and I think in Hemmings motor news. Any questions, give me
a call at 850-624-6319. Bob Stopka
