Seems like you would have seen it if it was there, but some of the back drums have a flat head machine screw holding them on.

It could be that the wheel cylinder got stuck/rusted in the expanded position, pushing the shoes against the drum. You might try cracking that bleeder open and then work the drum back and forth in hopes of re-compressing shoes enought to get drum off.

Also if the shoes wore into the drum and made a groove it can be a real bear to get past the ridge of the groove. If that's the case the drum would seem sorta loose, but would still refuse to come off. Same trick with opening the bleeder and wobbling drum to compres shoes should work there too.
