That sounds about right Norm. What tics me off is the lack of clear, posted info.

Once you Do find the info up on the hill, you will spend a good part of the day finding a place to sell you a permit to park and see some trees.

If they want to charge people for stopping their cars, they should make it manditory for the rangers to operate a toll booth at the base of the hill to clearly explain the fees and collect them from drivers. The system they use now is just an elaberate form of entrapment.

As it stands now. The driver must first locate a place that will sell the day use permits. For this you need to plan ahead the day before and be computer literate. Almost all of the vendors listed on the offical site are only open business hours so anyone going up the hill at 5 AM (like me) is out of luck. The driver also must know the local towns in order to find one of these places. This makes the highway NOT friendly to the casual driver. There are a lot of us naive persons out there that assumes that we can drive on any highway at any time.

It just gets me when local or State governments use these tactics to fine or tow peoples cars away.
