I prefer body color. In poor light, you don't see the wheels if they are painted the same color as the tire.
Silver lock rings are a must on a black power wagon wheels to set the wheel apart from the tire. Otherwise, the detail gets lost in a sea of black.
I have never seen a combat wheel with the ring painted silver, I'm not sure how that would look. I have sometimes seen the lock ring bolts painted silver.
I painted my wheels body color (the color the body will be some day) and painted the hunbs and lugnuts a darker color.
In a related note, I feel the windshield frame should also be painted body color unless the fenders are painted black, then it can be painted to match the fenders.
