That old saw of "We can save money if we restore it ouselves", usually only works once, so you better find the exact one you want and don't waste the opportunity. If it's simply a matter of being able to afford it, you're usually far ahead to buy one thats been professionally restored. I tend to think most folks would agree you always wind up with much more in it than it's ever going to be worth. And having said that most folks sell them for considerably less than they have in them and that's not counting sweat equity. There's a lot to be said for doing it yourself especially when you have a sense of pride in accomplishment. Just my two cents worth and yes I'm up to my neck in restoring my own Power Wagon!
