Actually I have heard talk of a registry ever since a gentleman in Evergren, CO. tried to start one back in about 1982 or 1983. He learned just how much work it involved and and soon abandoned the idea. It took this long for a couple of guys like Phil and Eric to step up to the plate and volunteer to put it together. Good work guys. I am glad to have been a small part of it and for the chance to offer my humble input.

I don't know where the truck currently is that is documented in my "In Transit Certificate". But that is part of the point. Hopefully, through Phil's Registry, someone will realize they know where the truck is located and will come forward to fill out some history and current information on the truck. I think it is kind of neat that so much information is known about a single truck from just one document. The mystery is: what happened to it? The interesting part now will be to sit back and see if we ever learn more information about it by having it listed in the Registry. If anyone finds out that they actually now own this truck, and can prove it, the owner's manual and In Transit Certificate that I have for it will be available to the rightful owner. All thay have to do is prove they currently own that truck and send me one original piece of Power-Wagon literature in trade. Any piece of literature from any year covering the 1-ton WDX-WM300 Power-Wagon will do. It can be anything from a parts manual to an single page magazine ad.

One of the interesting things about the Registry, as far as I am concerned, is the ability to compare the information from trucks with VIN numbers close together. For instance, most of the Power-Wagons here in my part of the country were originally painted Dodge Truck Dark Green. I have heard from people in other parts of the country where other colors were the norm. One truck, that I once owned, was only 3 or 4 VIN numbers away from one that a friend owned at the time in Carlisle PA. The interesting thing was, I found an old registration card under the seat that showed me the my truck had originally been owned by a company only a few miles from Carlisle. My friend's truck had always been a PA truck, so the two probably rooled off the assembly line on the same day, could have been shipped to the same dealer, and probably spent most of their early lives only a few miles apart from one another.

I think the Registry has the potential to bring a lot of people together, provide a lot of useful information, and yes, maybe eventually have an effect on parts availability.

Clint
