Fortunately for me, most of the steel fuel lines were in good shape when I got the truck, so I just left them in place. There was a small section just before the carburetor where I replaced the line, and I used steel brake line. It works and fits just fine.
Like Mary says, I believe they are the same as each other, but if not, then it's likely that the only difference is that the brake lines may have a little thicker wall thickness, which is better any way.
