My yard does NOT look ANYWARE near what the yard pictured does! I mean granted, I am not a perfect landscaper, but my yard is NOT an eyesore either. I have a few things in my yard, as I was out there today, I noticed a car radiator against a tree, a couple tires, my riding lawnmowers parked outside, and a few 5 gallon buckets by the front porch. No junkers parked out front. See, thats not too bad. Granted I dont have a super nice manicured lawn..Oh well, no big thing. I keep it mowed and it keeps the 'skeeter (Michigan state bird) population way down.
As for the Fred Sanford thing, yes, that does describe me. I have ALOT of junk, but it is outback hidden by thickly grown pines and cannot be seen by the road or most of the neighbors. The ones who do see it, dont care. I have quite a bit of junk, because on the side, I haul scrap metal and junk out quite a few vehicles, It is a nice sideline and helps me pay for things I enjoy, like Power Wagons and guns! :) I have about 30 vehicles outback for salvage. When I bring vehicles In, I try to get them in neat rows, and I dont leave doors open hoods open etc, that really gives it a bad look. I chew out folks who come and pull parts and leave the hood up. True, I have some parts laying around, but I try to keep things tidy. I dont leave stripped out hulks setting around long either, as those get loaded up on a trailer and hauled in. I usually keep an old Van or two out there, because they are good for stuffing loose sheetmetal into. I also have quite a bit of machinery and equpment as well.
I have junk cars and scrap metal around, but I get rid of all my trash. People who have junk cars, dont bother me, piles of wood dont bother me, but I dont like seeing trash and rubbish strewn about. But then again, who am I to tell another person what he-she should do with their own land. I dont like it when people tell me, so I wont push my 'standards' down their throughts. I appreciate if they do the same for me. I dont judge people by what they drive, how they dress, the appearence of their yard, I judge them by their honesty, integrety truthfullness, and how they treat others. That is what truely matters. I did not take your comments in a bad way. I was not offended. No offence taken. I really dont see much of a detriment to our hobby. I mean honestly, would my ugly unrestored WDX being as ugly as it is be a detriment? No. Besides, I am the Redneck type, and proud of it. These trucks fit my persona like a glove, and thats why I love them!
