Hi all,
I pulled the cowl lights off the parts truck tonite. First nut spun off with ease. Second started fine got 2/3 off and snapped suddenly. OK, I know, should have done the back and forth thing to clear out the threads as the nut came off. The other side never even started to turn, instant snap. The last one I tried tightening a bit, loosening a bit and it also snapped off without ever really turning. I havent looked at the bases yet, thought I would ask here since I am here, not in the shop looking at these lights. Are the studs removable from the bases or are they cast into the bases. Its frustrating since the cowl lights are in nice shape otherwise. If the first one had balked a bit I would probably have gone more carefully, maybe even a little heat, but would have been afeerd of damaging the bases. So, to make a short story long, can these rascals be repaired?
