Don't know how many of you fellows fallow the big electric forum, a while back I had posted do's and don'ts of picking a body shop,
Well guy's let me tell you I got rapped!!! I can't beleive how stupid I was to a low ths peice of @#!! to work on my truck!!
to make this short in the fender's where he "made" his own patches, in one year I had some small bubbles starting, and was told there was nothing he could do to fix it,( nature of the beast I was told) in a mere 4 years I was able to punch with my finger a volley ball size hole in his patch, Now the rest of the truck that he supposably did a full frame off restoration I have found much the same, I think the man should have been a scolpter!!
With the amount of bondo that was in my thuck one could almost build one!!!
rest asured that my 37 will be restored to her oridnal glory correctly, my new body man takes a lot of pride in his work and can't beleive the hackery at hand.
Best advice if you can't do it your self Know what you are getting into, expect to pay for your services, be pacient, do not except it if it is not what was agreed to, reserch many shops, check out the work they are doing, and have done, if possable ask a customer or two how was there experance? what do they have for equiptment? how clean is the shop? how busy are they? how do they account for hours spent on your vehicle time cards punch slips etc...
what type of warrintee do they offer? any reputable shop will not have a problem supplying you with all of these things. remember you get what you pay for! Not that I didn't pay the first time almost more than I could hope to get if I had to sell her( and if it was perfect)
Secondly, you are building her for your self, not to resell her. For me not that I can afford it, having to do this all over again at almost twice the cost is worth it, she served and has earnd the right to live again! once again it's not her fault that I was stupid and in a rush!!!
Keep'em rolling (Forgive my spelling)
Scott
