Once worm gear shaft to the pitman arm is removed, if I'm not mistaken, you should be able to unscrew the steering column shaft.

BTW - If you are in need of a steering shaft, etc, I have an extra steering box that I will sell you. It is missing some of the smaller parts and has a slightly worn steering shaft( the one that goes to the pitman arm). The worm gear shaft(aka steerring column shaft) is in good shape, and IMO the thing is restorable. I don't have the steering column sleeve though. I trashed it because some heavy handed jackass messed with it before I bought my truck, and screwed up the bearin gat the steering wheel. They are pretty inexpensive though.
