take a tour
go to the goodyear site look at the wrangler
tire size specs - will not see any 305 (12in width) tires on narrow 6.5 wheels
they make quite a few sizes in the wrangler series that are listed with the 6.5 rim width
as approved.
likewise go to the Denman site - same thing
------
wide tires are designed to work on wide wheels - roughly 1 inch of wheel for each 1 inch of tread width with the exception of
the 11.00R16 Michelin which was specifically engineered to work on the 6.5H16 wheels
Yes all sorts of tires have been fitted on incorrect wheels and they do hold air and do go round and round and might look good - anything to make a sale so to speak
PW/M37 owners are lucky that 9.00r16 & 11.00R16 tires are still used on military vehicles thoughout the world otherwise Michelin would not develop, improve, or manufacture them anymore.
the Old Tire Man
