That is when I learned about respecting fire with about 40% of me burned as a 12 year old. What I look for is to be the first on the fire to put it out. Having lost 8 of my neibors homes around me and allmost my home I know first hand what fire can do. Haveing 4 of our fire fighters deploy there shelters in the fire and I should have been one of them but I had went first with the dozer. It was the second group that got over run. I get great gratification getting a fire out fast when they happen and that is one of the many reasons I do it. There will allways be fires and people needed to put them out. I do a job and also get paid for it but I also do it for free. I am not sure what you are tring to start, I don't want peoples homes or property to burn, but I do want to get there to put them out. If you talk to a group of Wildland Firefighters you will see that fighting fires is in there blood and they love to do it. At the begining of the season the excitement builds for the first fires which will allways happen, being ready to fight them is what we prepair & train for. Getting them out, not hurt and back home for another days work if needed is very important to us. I never hope for a fire just to get on one if it starts!! Mark H.
