the "Biggest" tire would probably be a downgrade.
an "Upgrade" from the original 9.00x16 Military NDT tire would probably be one of the Michelin 9.00R16 XL series
or Perhaps 9.00x16 NATO's which have a modified NDT (Non Directional Tire) tread design
for "Desert" or Sand use the 11.00R16 Michelin which are probably the only larger (than 9.00x16 bias or radial) tires which are designed for the 6.5H16 PW/M37 wheels (the 11.00's were originally an XS "Sahara" Tire)
the 9.00x16 NDT tire has been used on 100's of thousands vehicles in every possible road (NON road) condition in the world - so if they did not work other tires would have been
used on the vehicles
all the other 9.00x16 tires (other than the 9.00r16 Michelin) have only been used on a small number of PW/M37 type vehicles which in most cases have been recreational use rather than heavy service daily commerical or military use.
