I just redid my gas tank. I cut an access hold in the top of my tank and put a drilled/threaded flange on the inside (#4 machine screws) and a cover w/ gasket to close it. The inside was filled with junk. I dumped it out and cleaned the inside as best I could with a pressure washer. I tried to bead blast the inside, but really could not get the whole thing. I put OSPHO in it and let it eat up the remaining rust. I bead blasted what I could on the outside and power brushed the rest. I had lots of holes in the tank. I weld some with MIG and soldered some with lead. The solder worked better. I coated the insides with Eastwood's tank treatment kit. I pressure tested it. I had lots of trouble controlling leakage at the sender unit.
