Best way to tell the approximate production date is by date stamps in the castings. You can often find dates stamped on to may other parts such as headlights, speedometers heaters and such. This will give you the dates that each part was made. If original to the truck, they can give you an approximte date as the truck has to be built later than the lates dated part. My 52 ff PW (Titled year) is actually a mid 1951 both by dates on parts and it's serial number is in the middle of the numbers for that year. I believe the latest date on my truck is March or early April 1951 and everything has a early 1951 date. Nothing in 1950 or 1952. So even though it is licensed as a 1952 it is a mid-year 1951 truck from Detroit. I suspect it was built in late spring to early summer. (May/June)
