Another oil filter question

While changing the filter, I noticed that the old filter fits snugly around the tube that's in the center of the housing. The old filter had a rubber seal at the top of the filter, and one at the bottom as well, and these seals make for a nice, tight fit around that tube.

The new filter (Wix 55101, I think?) does not have these rubber seals, and it fits much more loosely around the center tube. It seems like a lot of oil could just bypass the filter and just head straight for the center tube, where it would go right back into the engine, unfiltered. This does not seem right.

I know that a lot of the oil doesn't get filtered in these engines anyway, but whatever is supposed to be filtered should be filtered, in my opinion. If it's not working right, it needs to be made right.

Does anyone know of an alternative part number that contains the rubber seals I'm talking about? Unfortunately, I don't have the part number of the old filter I removed.

Thanks,

Matt
