Exactly! That is one weird break! Springs get their spring from temper. I'm not stuttering, So if you weld, you will mess up the springs', spring.
That should be a low cost repair at a spring shop, if you do the R&R. Otherwise look in salvage yards, but be careful and have a spring in your step in case they have a dog.
