.... you get kind of used to it. I'm used to taking off the internal handle latch, welding up the worn bit, and notching it again now - no big deal. I have one pair of new door edge latches left for my next truck and that's me out.

I got a load of new link and latches from Norway years ago, but I traded them all away before I realised I could sell them for money (sigh)

Even time I open the doors on my 1939 pickup I think just how much better the 1939 house-type latches are than the 1940-up, but I assume some bean-counter told them the 40-up variety was cheaper.
