I too used penetrant heat, and impact with a special socket fit to the job.
The screws are a relatively common size. My *very* well stocked hardware store (Finkel's in Lambertville, NJ for you old hardware store affectionados...) had them for a pittance. Also available at VPW, of course.
I have used anti-sieze upon re-install and had no problem thereafter (10 yrs).
