cutting torch

I realize that a cutting torch question is slightly off topic but I also know that many of you guys do your own work too so I thought I'd try and see what I could find out. I have an Oxy/Act torch but have heard for years that propane is cheaper. Also have heard that it is harder to use though. What do you guys say?
If one was to convert, what is needed to safely complete the process?
By the way, I don't vist very often but has anyone mentioned the Cabelas catalog with the T-shirt with the PW on it?
