I am a member of the Maryland ARNG. I have had the distinct pleasure of visiting on two occaisions My regimental armory in Baltimore Md wherein a museum dedicated to the 29th resides. I think the 29th is no longer an active army unit It's a national guard unit in Annapolis Md. They are Calvary scouts. The 29th were formed after the Civil war and members were actually former soldiers from both sides of the conflict. Their emblem is a blue and grey ying yang type symbol.

I just thought some of you might like to know.

My grandfather (no longer with us)Was a technical sargent in an anti aircraft battery that fired on german aircraft as they chased american bombers on their way back to England. He related to me once that he was on Omaha beach 4 days after d day and they were told to wear gas masks in case of a counter attack. He said that he fell asleep the first night with his mask on and when he awoke the glass on the eyepieces were all fogged up. He said he flipped out thinking that the germans were gassing them...his buddies never let him forget it.

I plan on visiting Normandy some day.
