Make sure you use the proper torque converter that has the weight on it , the 360 is balanced externaly, by the weight on the torque converter or flywheel. the 318 is Not. you will know real quick when you start the 360 and it won't rev up, it will shake like crazy. My brother bought a 79 newport from a garage, they got the car with a bad 318, they had a 360 and put that in. They didn't know what was wrong. My brother bought it knowing the problem and swapped out the converter and all was fine. At the garage, the car would idle but if you reved it up, the crankshaft flexed so much it would stall from internal clearance problems.
