im installing power steering in a 3/4 ton wc. i have the box done and am now working on the pump. i'm using rays kit. ray's kit requires the removal of three head bolts on the engine (230) to install the bracket. Problem is that i have studs and not head bolts. the studs are long enough for the head nuts to seat properly. question is - how can i remove the studs to install the pump. do i have to remove the head? will i snap the studs if i use a small pipe wrench to remove them? i could use a stud extractor (maybe) if the threads area is long enough. could i use heavy locktite on the nuts to create headbolts and remove the stud from the block?? has anyone done this? any ideas appreciated.
