Uh oh - Big oil slick. Need help w/rear main seal!

Can the rear main seal on a 230 (T245) be replaced with the engine in the truck? I don't have an M-37 manual, but an earlier WC manual says the bearings can be replaced from beneath the truck, so why not the rear main seals? Has anyone here done this!
