I actually just did it. I took an '51 M37, which I got out of the bushes with no door or top and no wheels etc and transplanted the thing onto a Suburban chassis. It sounds mad, but here's what you get. A truck that has 75 mph freeway speeds, power brakes, power steering, 350 V8, auto trans, starts great, runs great and looks outstanding with it's 35" tires. I was interested in am M37 but not in the inherent maintenance problems of keeping an older truck on the road at 40mph. I wanted the look and spirit of an M37 with modern performance. The actual conversion was so simple and easy as to be scarry. I bought a rusted out Suburban and unlaced the wiring harness and removed the pedal assemblies and other accessories. The pedals bolted onto the fire wall of the 37 with 5 minutes worth of alteration with a grinder. Wiring was laced into the m37 and is factory original(if you want it to be). I made some mods and installed the heater unit under the passenger seat. If you're interested I can send you a picture of it. I drive it almost daily and it is my truck. It is not a purist approach, and I love the originals, but for what I was wanting, this is it. I'd be happy to field any questions.
