The 2K rpm/20 min. procedure has always worked for me on modern v-8 engines; they are 5K to 7K rpm engines. I would think that on an old flatty with new internals, given its rev limit of maybe 4K at most, I'd cut the initial start/run speed down to maybe 1200 to 1500 for the 20 min., watching for temps not to go too high, maybe 200 to 210 degrees at most.
