Pump the oil using the drill method, but I wouldn't rev an engine that I just built until about five minutes have passed and everything is warming up nicely. (OOps did I forget to tighten that # 3 Piston cap?) It usually takes me that long to adjust the timing and carb, to get it settled in. There are opinions on driving at a steady slow rate, and opposite driving at high/low bursts to seat the rings. Some feel the rings need to seat gradually, over a period of 500+ miles. Others say newer rings seat soon, and you want the piston to travel under varying loads to properly seat them. At no time have I seen someone recommend HIGH RPM for a new engine, only average driving rpm at the max.
