Dave, from your postings, it sounds like you are getting to the "Is this going to take forever?" stage. Ah, the details. Charlie is right on about not buying chain from a "chain store"; most of them get the cheapest stuff they can, whether it is made in the US, or elsewhwere. Good sources for chain and cable, and services for having the desired or appropriate fittings installed if needed, are farm and ranch supply outlets that deal with real farmers and ranchers; good advice is usually available there, too. If you are in timber country, a logging outfit may have the parts and materials available, in addition to a shop to do the work; there is one locally, that I called to ask if they knew where I could get some slings and chokers, and the lady said, sure, here. Also, check with a crane and rigging company, if they would share their source(s). But, above all, don't use cheap stuff for your winch and pulling and hauling gear; it might cost more in the end.
