Opinions - I think my favorite Power Wagon story is this one -
A few years ago, I took my 1957 Town Wagon Power Wagon to a local service station for a state inspection. An older man, Floyd, does the inspection. He is a retired career Army man, and proceeded to tell me "Yeah, I thought I wanted me one of those Power Wagons once, until a brand new one left me out in the jungle in Vietnam, couldn't get it to start so we left it!"
A true story told from experience in the trenches. That was his opinion and I found great respect in it.
I formed some opinions at the Texas PW meet at Fort Hood this year. We headed out on the trails one night, me and two buddies riding in the 1964 W300 Crew Cab. After a few minutes on the trail, we picked up some followers driving M37s. Well I guess I was now leading a trail ride, so we proceeded on through a creek and attempted to make a run at a very muddy tank trail. This was a mistake in my heavy diesel powered truck, we got nice and stuck. None of the M37s would even get their tires wet to take a look at my situation. We eventually walked back across the creek to get some help and were offered a ride back to camp in an M37. About this time, a small band of very hyped up local
guys pulled up in their beat up brand X trucks, looked like a scene from Mad Max. They insisted on helping me and I was feeling like there was no way in hell that they could possibly help me. Well, it was that bunch of kids that got me out of there, about ten of them standing on my running boards for traction. I formed some opinions, and so did my friends with me
who always hear me bragging about Power Wagons. A few nights later during an organized trail ride, a military jeep stalled out
after crossing a stream, it was pouring down rain. He had a tow bar up front, so we hooked on to my W300 and pulled him back to camp. Opinions - we all have them, me, you, and JASON. Express your opinions, just don't talk about other peoples' mothers and green stamps.
