Hold off on destroying your PW. Since it would not look right with a short bed, you could make it look less "not right" with a home made flat bed until the repro beds discussed in Forum 13 make it into production. I have a '54 that I bought with a repro bed (Sorry, I don't know the source) that has only two stake pockets per side and would not fool a real PW type. But, it looks right from across the street and will carry an M-274 "Mule." Beauty is as beauty does. I have a friend who used a Studebaker pickup bed until he could get enough PW parts to restore his PW bed. Also, a ton and a half Army cargo trailer bed will fit if you shorten it in the wheel to cab back dimension.
