I'm looking for a tubeless rim to fit my '52 PW that I just got. However, an old tire man showed me a tip once he used on any rim that was questionable.
He would mount the tire and tube in the usual manner and then place it in the cage. He than set the air pressure to whatever he wanted (70 p.s.i. on the tire I watched him work on) and lock the fill valve onto the stem. He then would crack the pressure feed open and go to lunch. After 1/2 hour or so, the tire would be inflated and held for awhile.
I was around when one blew when I was driving a truck for a living. I was outside the garage and a cage was used. It still made one heck of a bang.
