jeff,

the exact model designation is really not very important, because there not many differences between models and years, and you may not think they are important, anyway.

looking at Power Wagons from 1946 to 1968, the big ones would be, 6 or 12 volt, spur gear or synchro trans, 230 engine or 251. if you like power wagons, you would like any of the trucks. it can be much like trying to choose a puppy; they are all different, but they are all fun.

in terms of evaluating the truck, look at the sheet metal, does it have a pickup box, does it have a tailgate, how much rust and where....?

and, did i mention, look at the sheet metal? that should be your very biggest concern.

virtually anything you know allowing you to evaluate an M37 can apply, as well as general guidelines regarding determining the mechanical condition of a vehicle. the vast majority of mechanical parts will be available. and the few that are difficult won't be helped by it being WDX or B1...

p.s. hope this gets to you in time.
