Joe. The handle in the horizontal position should disengage the clutch. Lift it up to engage the clutch and turn the drum.
I have an LU2 winch with a big chunk missing out of the same housing. If you find a better one, let me know, I might be interested in buying yours and havign the groove filled in with heliarc. J Henry
