We stayed at the Economy Inn, formerly the Dream Motel, during every Rally from 1988 until a few years ago. It was owned by an older couple who took pride in the place as it was their source of income. A few years ago they retired and sold it to a group from India. We continued to stay there for a few years and watched the place go down hill. The last time we stayed there, our west facing door did not seal tightly and the carpet was moldy from water leaking in during rain storms. The ceiling of the bathroom looked like someone had shook up a can of pop and let it spray. Hair was stuck to this and the vent was non functional and its grill had obviously not been cleaned in a couple of years. We left the air conditioner turned on at a low setting during the day while we were enjoying the Rally festivities. Every night, when we came back, we would find that the management had turned the air off sometime during the day, and this was 90 degree weather. We have not returned since and have been staying at the Super 8 instead.

I am not trying to say not to stay there. This was only our experience. Hopefully, they have cleaned up their act, and maybe we just got the wrong room, but I will not go back and I told them so.

Hopefully your experience will be better than our's. Get up early and get to the Rally events and stay late into the night, and you will only have to spend a few hours in your room. It is nice to be able to open the door and your vehicle is only a couple of feet away and open your curtains and see who is stirring around at the fairgrounds.
