I found myself an airboat shop. They are used to all sorts of engines set up with only the basics. The same shop works on most of the pro street cars in town. They even get to know enough about the customer to leave the things alone that the customers can do themselves. They just go over it and make sure they understand the task and send them on their way. They hire young mechanics and assign a mentor to them. The two work as a team for about a year before the kid is let go to work on their own. They also stick really close to what they quote. Shops like this are getting harder and harder to find. I think it's a corperate American syndrome. The Walmarts, the NAPA's, the McDonalds, all hiring the young and giving them very little training and most important NO MENTORS. It's not the young persons fault, they are set up to fail. "I'm sorry sir, our computer does not go back to 1942." as you are looking at the part you need on the shelf but they won't sell you because their computer won't take 1942 in the little block they need to fill or get fired.
