Mike was refering to the fact that if the person had a good running truck before he started working on it and then he changed the wires, the wires are where you stay until it is verified that, that protion of the repair was performed correctly. You don't start willynilly changing parts, you need to keep your baseline intact. It'd be stupid to start working on the carb when the problem is electrical and visa/versa. This truck ran good until the wires and plugs were changed. That is where the problem lies, he is just missing something minor. He doesn't need to pull the transmission to find this problem, that is what Mike was posting about and he is correct. Mike didn't say don't do anything, he said, don't do anything that doesn't pertain to the cause.
He could be wiring the firing order backwards, he could have the firing order wrong as it pertains to the piston order, he could have the condensor or coil wired backwards, it could be any number of items, BUT it is something he touched while doing the work. Many home repair troubles are self inflicted.
