Steven,

I repaired the missing cab filler strip myself several years ago. I originally filled it in with bondo and painted over it. But the flexing between the two metal sections caused the bondo to crack. I cleaned out the bondo and rust with a narrow wire brush on an angle grinder. Sprayed well with phosphoric acid to neutralized the rust. Then primed is with paint. I bought a piece of steel strap (I can't remember if it was 1/2" or 3/4") at Tractor and Supply. I bent the strap to fit the cab. I cleaned and primed the strap, then drilled countersunk holes in every 6" (overkill). I filled the seam with automotive seam sealer. Then place the strap over the seam, and secured with screws. I didn't fill in the screws holes, but you could. Then I primed and painted the roof (it started to peel, which started the whole project).
