Hold up now.Diesel engines will make torque when a load is placed on it.Modern diesels up to 20%.A gas engine will not. Also hp and torque figures for gas and diesel engines are figured a little different.One of those 400hp small blocks will make 400hp for how long??at 400hp you can measure its life span in minutes!! A 400hp diesel will make that power running at that rate for years.One is figured at net hp the other at s.a.e. What does all this mean?? My 68D300 has a 318la,the truck i work with has a cummins they both haul the same, but the cummins will run 75mph my truck with the same load will run 55mph.Thanks Lucian
