Based on the performance of my carryall with the 327 in it and 4.89 gears I would say that it is doable. An interesting option would be to go with 5.83 gears and put an overdive in it to take care of the higher speeds or splitting gears.

Disk brakes are a must. I would recommend them on both axles.
