Early Timing marks were on a metal tag bolted just above the damper. If you have a vacuum gauge, that is a better way to time a truck. First adjust your carb, to pull max. vacuum at idle, then adjust your distibutor to pull maximum vacuum at idle, that will be almost perfect, you may want to advance the timing 2-3 degrees past that setting for blazing acceleration....oh wait, it's the PPE, so just leaving the timing at the max vac. setting! = )
