After I put the post on the forum I went back down to the shop and checked what I had done.

First thing I did was check to make sure the plug wires went from the proper plugs to the proper hole on the distributor cap, checked it with the book everything looks right. Second made sure the wires are seated in the cap and that they are in as far as I can push them, found that the coil plug wire was bad so I went ahead and replaced it. Tried to start her, still nothing. With a volt meter I checked to see if any thing is grounded out couldn't find any shorts. I even took off the new cap and put on the old one and put the old rotor back in, and still nothing. It acts like there is no spark at the plugs. My dad and I checked for spark last time and we couldn't find any at the plugs.I'll check it again.

My next step is to check the points gap. What is the proper gap? I have not changed the condenser yet, It the same one that has been in the truck for I don't know how many years. Should I change the condensor? I also haven't removed the distributor from the engine. There is a little play on the shaft when you gently try to move the rotor by hand, I think it's from wear, do I need to worry about this? How do I go about turning the engine over by hand? Is there like a hand crank or should I find a large wrench and spin it over slowly? What is the NAPA #'s for points and condensor? Any other suggestions other same old addage "If it ain't broke don;t fix!"? Iam going down now and try your suggestions from the previous posts.

Thanks guys for all the help in advance.

Chris Becker
