I have had this problem a couple times, once it was the points being grounded (COMMON PROBLEM), the other time a bad Rotor!
The bad rotor was put on a farm find that I had never had running, so I had an unknown truck, with all new ignition parts, as you can imagine, getting no spark was pretty confusing.
After fooling with it for a while I asked a friend to try, and he started swapping out the new parts with ones from a running motor. Once the rotor was changed the truck fired right up! (I was a tiny bit shocked)
You never know when you will get a brand new bad part.
