If there's anybody still alive in the area who used to own that company, it seems to me it would be nice to tell them that you're restoring their old work truck and would like to repaint their logo and use it on the truck. If I was an old guy and that truck had worked for me year after year, doing its job and helping me earn my living, I would be really happy to see some "young guy" get it and restore it and I'd be even happier to see it repainted just like it was when I bought it new in 1959 or whenever. If the business is long gone and the old man's dead, I'd just copy the logo and figure nobody will care, but if they guy's still around, it'd be the respectful thing to ask him. For all you know, maybe he'd remember he had old box of spare parts out in his garage that he'd give to you, or maybe a picture of the truck at work.
