I had an old friend who mechaniced for close to 60 years before he died and he always started at the wheel farthest from the master cylinder and worked up to it. There are pressure bleeders available that hook up to the M/C and force the fluid to the bleeders, air first, and these are probably the very best way to do it. Also probably out of reach costwise for most people. But it makes sense to me that the M/C would force any air away toward the wheel cylinders.
