I have relatives in the interior of British Columbia who have done exactly the same thing. The locals out there never put all the siding/finishing trim on the outside sothat it stays as an "unfinished" (untaxed) structure. The interiors are done up to the max though. The only time one of the locals "finishes" a building, is when they want to list it for sale. One of the ethnic groups (Doukhobour)don't even do that as they sell mostly to their own comunity, and none of them want to pay the tax on a completed structure.

The location of really nice places to live should be guarded as closely as the GPS co-ordinates for your favorite fishin' hole. And even then, the "yuppie types" still seem to find them.
