I rent space out at my place to friends from in town to keep their "projects" that might irritate their neighbors. It also keeps their wives from knowing just how many vehicles they really have, and pays my land taxes to boot. When one of them bring their "loving wife" out, usually on a Sunday drive, I refer to my yard as " a really good bad example", and go into the schpiel on how thankful they should be that their husband isn't like me. I also tell them that I have no JUNK.... only "artifacts" and "antiquities", and then proceed to show them a bunch of things that most women would like for their garden. Once they find things in the collection that they want themselves, it kind of changes their attitude a little. If I can talk them into taking a few rocks home for their yard, even better!
I have never had any complaints from my farm neighbors, and the only negative comments I have ever heard have been from city politicians that have been out on a country drive. In the minds of city people, the "country" is supposed to look like one giant golf course. Maybe it does if you crop the picture right.
