The ridge rafter is the top piece that holds the rafters together, at the top of the roof in the picture. Read my post again, and DO NOT DRINK WHEN USING TOOLS, even in jest!
The cut will be plumb, or 90 degrees from horizontal. The only tool you need is that framing square, a pencil to make the 90 degree mark and a saw to cut it, you cut ALL of the rafters the same they will mate up as pairs later, ther eis no left right or mirror to worry about, you are making it too hard! I wish I had a drawing that I could insert in this post is is really very simple once the concept hits you between the eyes!
