Hi,

Mopar Performance sells some 4" stroke crankshafts, both cast and forged, that would turn a 318 into a 384 at stock bore. There are better cylinder heads available now also. Put some good heads on it with good quench and swirl design, flat top or quench dish pistons and you'll have a much more powerful motor that will be very tolerant of bad gas and associated pinging. The cast crank is very reasonable in price, but might require expensive balancing (mallory metal). Forged crank would be a far better choice in this application where the motor might run at medium rpm wide open throttle for many minutes at a time on long grades.
Let me know if you want more details, this might be done much easier and cheaper than a repower, and be much more driveable on short trips.

good luck,
mark
