Hi Russ,
I pretty much ignore it until I'm approaching major passes, such as Cajon Pass in SoCal (4,000 ft climb in 6 miles) The Grapevine, Tajon Pass in SoCal, about the same rate of climb. I haven't found any passes in Colorado, New Mexico, or any other mountain state that has any steeper rates of climb. Taller purhaps, but not steeper. (one exception is climbing out of Ouray on the drive south to Silverton). I've driven it this way for nearly two years, so I don't really have enough miles on it yet to see what effect that may have. I know that this trans (47RE) has been upgraded in the new Cummins to the 48RE. It was based pretty much upon the old 727 and I only lost one of those, it was behind a Camper Special, Club Cab, powered by a 440. I beat the heck out of that truck, it was my work truck and daily driver for 285,000 miles. = )
